Chapter Officers Installed for 2013-14
Annual Installation Dinner-Dance Held On May 31
Chapter
Members recently gathered to witness the installation and of the new slate of
Chapter Officers for the upcoming fiscal year at the Chapter’s Annual
Installation Dinner-Dance. The festive event was held at The Fiesta in
Wood-Ridge, NJ on Friday, May 31, 2013.
Members
enjoyed a grand cocktail hour and were greeted by a life sized, artistically
carved ice sculpture of the traditional FMS logo. A seemingly endless array of
fine fruit, cheeses, specialty carving stations and a raw bar featuring seafood
to satisfy any appetite was available to Members to enjoy along with their
favorite cocktail as well as fine selections from the martini bar.

Incumbent Chapter President Jim Montagne began the formal program by welcoming
the Members, guests and past Chapter Officers in attendance. Past Chapter
President, John Klimowich from Columbia Bank performed the traditional
invocation following the formal presentation of colors and a salute to our
nation’s flag.
Adam
Goldstein, Senior Vice President from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York,
offered a celebratory toast to the slate of Officers about to be installed for
the upcoming year. Adam offered humorous and entertaining words of encouragement
along with a mixture of his personal wisdom to the new slate of Officers.
Jim
Montagne then introduced FMS National Chapter President, Dick Yingst who
presented Jim with the Membership Growth Award and the Chapter Excellence Award
for 2013 on behalf of the NY/NJ Chapter.

Dick
Yingst introduced Ferdinand Viaud from Glen Rock Savings
Bank who proceeded to install the Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer as
the Chapter's Officers for the upcoming year. Jim Montagne returned to the
podium to present his final remarks to the Membership as Chapter President. He
thanked the Membership and the Chapter Officers for their support during his
administration. He noted the accomplishments that the Chapter has made over the
past year including the implementation of the Chapter’s new website and the
successful and popular introduction of on-line registration and credit card
payment.
Maureen
Kalena, Vice President, Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, was then installed
as Chapter President by Dick Yingst. Maureen received the traditional gavel and
President’s Pin. The entire slate of Officers received warm applause from the
entire Membership.
Maureen
then offered her initial address to the Membership as Chapter President. She
first thanked all of those that made this opportunity possible. She also
recounted the seemingly winding path toward her inauguration by recounting her
early days with the Federal Home Loan Bank in the lonely the stretches of
upstate New York. She noted how her persistence and the confidence and belief
shown in her from others has made this moment possible. The Chapter Members
welcomed Maureen as Chapter President by offering a sincere round of applause.
Once the
formal program concluded, the night was capped off with a sumptuous gourmet
dinner followed by an evening of dancing and entertainment provided by
The Infernos, an incredible live band
featuring great vocalists and a full horn section.
